On August 29, 2025, the Littlestown Senior Class of 2026 gathered on their football field to watch the sunrise one last time together. Half of the class was able to attend where they sat on blankets, ate food and took pictures. Ashylnn Gorsuch asked for a meeting with the school principal Dr. Becker in order to make this happen for her fellow peers.
Senior Ashlynn Gorsuch, who is also captain of the volleyball team and mini-thon, made time in her busy schedule in order to help set this up for her seniors. Gorsuch organized the senior sunrise. She had to email Dr. Becker to set up a meeting in order to ask him for permission to use the football field and have them as supervisors. She had to pick the date and set the time for everyone to meet at the field. Gorsuch said, “I wasn’t sure if anyone else was going to do it and I knew I wanted everyone to be able to experience a senior sunrise like many other schools.” Gorsuch wanted not only herself, but her other classmates to get the same experiences as others and so she put in the effort. As a result of Gorsuch’s hard work she was able to pick a date and time for anyone who wanted to go and meet at the football field to watch the sunrise.
On August 29, 2025, half of the senior class was able to gather. It was at six in the morning, so there was a small breeze with the chilly air causing the football field turf to be cold. Students brought blankets to sit on and wrap themselves in. All of the students are sitting within their own friend groups but close enough to one another where they only spread about 20 to 30 yards of the field. The seniors are preparing for their last time all together.
These seniors know that their time in high school is running out and they know this will be there last time all together. Many of them brought donuts and cookies to share and give to their fellow classmates. This was not exactly something where they stayed apart and only sat with their friends instead they were able to interact with each other, take pictures, and even got one of everyone who attended. Aubrey Norris said, “It was amazing to see everyone come together for our end of high school.” Norris is a senior who was able to get up early and watch the sunrise with everyone else. She was able to see how important this small event was. Jackson Baucher said, “The senior sunrise was able to bring people together.” Each student that had attended was able to see how everyone was able to come together and see each other one last time to watch the sunrise together. This is so important to many of these seniors who will never see each other again.
Each year a senior sunrise is held and this year Gorsuch was able to make it happen for her classmates. All of the seniors had the choice of meeting on the field on August 29, 2025 and that’s what many did. The tradition can hopefully continue and then each person would be able to have the same experience. It was something fun that brought many together and it will be something to look forward to in the future for those younger students.
